Scientifically proven efficacy in nighttime and daytime applications
Nighttime UV-C irradiation is the most widespread and effective method against grape powdery mildew and other fungal diseases, as it directly damages pathogen DNA in darkness without allowing daytime UV-A or blue light to repair them. This minimizes fungicide use, reducing it by up to 90% with robotic systems, while remaining safe for plants and environmentally friendly.
During the day, UV-C light not only directly destroys fungi but also stimulates the grape's immune system: it increases salicylic acid production, which activates plant defense mechanisms and prevents pathogen spread. This builds long-term resistance, improving crop quality with increased resveratrol levels. It's effective alongside natural light, but careful dosing is required to avoid plant stress.
